Using multiple connections

To display pages faster

1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
2. Click the Web Content tab.
3. In the Multimedia area, make sure the Show Pictures, Play Sounds, and Show Video boxes are not selected.

Tip

• If the Show Pictures box is not checked, you can still download an image by holding down the mouse button on the image icon and then choosing Load Missing Image from the context menu. You can also double-click the image icon to download it.

To browse previously viewed pages faster

1. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Cache area, increase the value in the Maximum Size box.

To use multiple connections

1. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click Support Multiple Connections.
4. Change the Max Connections value as needed.

Notes

• Turning on multiple connections enables your browser to download different elements at the same time. For example, if you downloaded a page with multiple images without using multiple connections, the images would load one at a time. With multiple connections, the images could download at the same time.
• Four connections is the default number of connections and will give you optimum performance. You can have as many as eight connections, but more than four connections will only benefit you if you are downloading many different files from many different servers simultaneously.
• The number of connections is per window.
